Currency

Bequia is part of the Eastern Caribbean (EC) and uses the EC dollar as its currency. The current exchange rate (Jan 2004) is approximately $2.67 EC to $1.00 US. While slightly higher exchange rates can be found through most banks, money can also be changed at many restaurants and hotels.

What to wear

Cool and comfortable clothing is virtually dictated given the subtropical climate. During the day casual wear is the general rule for both men and women. Most restaurants do not require a jacket or tie for dinner. Swimwear is fine whilst at the beach, however, out of respect for local customs, it should not be worn in restaurants, shops and village streets. A loose T-shirt and shorts are convenient items to throw in your beach bag.
